Engage with current affairs and news – but try to read from a wide source of different news outlets to avoid becoming too narrow – remember, all news is written by individuals who have their own subjective biases (however objective they may try to be).

Hodder Education also offer an excellent supply of current opinion pieces about political topics.

You may also want to read some Biographies of political leaders from the UK and US

  • 5th Risk – Michael Lewis
  • Cameron at 10 – Anthony Seldon
  • 10 Downing Street: the illustrated history – Anthony Seldon

Finally, the West Wing is an excellent drama based around the US Presidency. Available on All4 – highly recommended.

Continuing to study over the summer will help you to build on all of the study habits that you have developed over the past couple of years. It’s going to help you with things like being organised, time management and being self-disciplined, which are all essential study habits – no matter what subjects you choose to study next year.
