Physics
Physics
We are passionate about our subject, and enjoy discussing the wonders of the universe, atom and everything in between, alongside the amazing technological inventions we rely on in daily life.
Course Description.
At University of Birmingham School, Physics is taught exclusively by well-qualified Physics specialists, separate from Chemistry and Biology. The Physics Department is exceptionally well-resourced, facilitating our strong emphasis on hands-on practical activities and the regular use of iPad animations and other ICT resources to aid learning.
In the Sixth Form, Physics is a highly popular subject with multiple classes and a significant proportion of students going on to study Physics or Engineering at University. We follow the AQA A Level course, and each student has two subject specialist teachers who share the teaching. Lessons include a range of imaginative and exciting hands-on practical work and extensive use of iPads, alongside more traditional learning activities. We also provide a wide range of enrichment and extension options, and several students have enjoyed success in the Physics Olympiad and when applying to Oxbridge, and have joined our trips to the University’s Physics lecture series and to Astronomy in the City.
