University of Birmingham School has been awarded the School Membership of Music Mark in recognition of providing high-quality music education.
“Music Mark believes in the fundamental right to experience a high-quality music education for all children and young people, in and out of their schools.” Bridget Whyte, Chief Executive, Music Mark.
Music education and enrichment play an integral part in our school curriculum. Pupils and students show great interest in the subject, not only in timetabled lessons but in extra-curricular activities to further explore and showcase their talents and interests. Activities include steel pan drums, instrumental lessons, singing in the community choir, performing at high profiled events for the school and at other organisations.
“At a time when creative, expressive and performing arts education is under some strain nationally, we value this provision at University of Birmingham School, and its contribution to a rounded learning experience – and purposefully pursue an inclusive and broad-ranging approach to music learning.” Mr Townsend, Principal, University of Birmingham School.
A huge well done to our music department Ms Argyropulo-Palmer and Miss Edge for all their hard work to ensure our pupils and students are able to access and engage with high-quality music education. We look forward to our continued growth for the development of our school.
