Alumni KPMG 930x606

Alumni empowering the next generation

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming back two of our alumni, Husnain and Zainab, who are currently pursuing degree apprenticeships at KPMG. Husnain, a 2021 graduate, and Zainab, a 2024 graduate, returned to our Sixth Form to share their experiences with a few Year 12 students. Their visit was not only informative but also a wonderful opportunity for current students to connect with successful former students.

The session provided an insight into the world of degree apprenticeships, a path that combines academic study with practical, on-the-job training. Husnain and Zainab detailed their journeys and the benefits of choosing this route. They highlighted the opportunity to earn a salary while gaining valuable work experience and working towards a degree – emphasising the balance between work commitments and academic responsibilities, offering tips on managing both effectively.

They also shared how their apprenticeships have allowed them to build professional networks early in their careers, a crucial aspect of career development. The alumni spoke about the real-world skills they have acquired, making them more marketable to future employers.

Their visit was not just about sharing experiences; it was about inspiring and encouraging current students to explore all educational pathways available to them. Husnain and Zainab’s achievements illustrate that with dedication, hard work, and the right opportunities, success is within reach. We look forward to seeing more of our alumni return to share their experiences and inspire current students to achieve their own dreams. A big thank you to Husnain and Zainab for taking the time to visit us. Former UoBS pupils and students can join our Alumni Network here.
