30 Year 10 pupils embarked on an exhilarating 3-day expedition to the Malverns to complete their Silver DofE Practice Expedition – a stepping stone towards their upcoming qualifying expedition in Shropshire in June. Pupils faced night time temperatures of -5°C, and woke up to frost on their tents! Despite the chilly conditions, pupils remained undeterred, showing resilience, and maintaining high spirits throughout.
Using the camp craft skills they learnt during their bronze award, pupils were able to develop their skills further and demonstrated outstanding teamwork and camaraderie, encouraging each other to work together, covering an impressive distance of approximately 39km!
In preparation for their Gold DofE Award in July, 13 Sixth Form students took on the hilly terrain of the Brecon Beacons. The team were fortunate to have splendid weather throughout the trip, which greatly contributed to the success and enjoyment of the long weekend.
Each participant demonstrated a positive attitude, confidence, and great teamwork, whilst covering over 62km. We are optimistic about the qualifying expedition scheduled for July in the Lake District. We hope the good weather follows us there, ensuring another memorable experience for all!
