Parent/carer involvement in a child’s education can be one of the most pivotal areas of influence. We value your support for your child’s flourishing at University of Birmingham School. We’ve listed just a few ways that parents/carers can support and get involved in the School, but we always welcome further ideas or suggestions.
Stay in touch and join us at events
We encourage all parents and carers to keep in touch with our news via our website and social media activity (Facebook, X, and Instagram). We have a regular programme of events which parents, carers and families are invited to including termly music concerts, school fairs, and college events.

Supporting home learning
We are grateful to parents and carers for supporting pupils and students in getting into good learning habits. Good learning habits include making time to read every day for 20 minutes, spending between 30-60 minutes on home learning tasks (for Year 7-9), and encouraging your child to make time to have a break and relax! All homework is recorded on Class Charts, for which both parents, carers, and pupils have an account. On here, you can see all homework for your child, along with issue and due dates.

Being well together…
All of us can feel overwhelmed at times. Looking after ourselves physically can not only benefit our bodies and make us healthier, it can also have a great impact upon our mental wellbeing.
Our health and wellbeing page has an number of resources sharing ways in which we can all stay active and healthy – with information for pupils, students and a dedicated ‘parent/carer corner.’
The School Parent Teacher Association
The Friends of University of Birmingham School is the School’s PTA and is open to all parents and carers of pupils and students at UoB School, as well as all staff. Our aim is to create a cooperative environment for events and activities for the entire School community.

Volunteering
We welcome opportunities for pupils and students from the University of Birmingham, members of our local community and parents and carers to contribute to our enrichment and academic programmes through volunteering, assemblies or by becoming a Community Champion.
