Update – Friday 10 March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your support and adaptability today given the decision to turn our children around upon arrival in School. Despite best intents to remain open safely, by 08.30 local conditions were judged as prohibitive.

Whilst weather conditions seem to have stabilised this afternoon, I am mindful that overnight low temperatures might lead to risk such as ice, or the situation may again deteriorate.

At this time, please assume that we intend to open for all year groups at the normal time tomorrow (Friday 10 March). The School will issue an email at 07.00 confirming our open or closed status, a risk assessment having been undertaken around that time. We will also publish detail on the School’s other communication channels.

In any event School will dismiss tomorrow from 13.15 (after lunch time) for those in years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 – with year 11 pupils and year 13 students remaining onsite until 15.00 for examination tutorials and study. We have cancelled routine Friday afternoon enrichment given that so many arrangements depend on outside activity or transport availability.

With best wishes,

Colin Townsend

Principal

School Closure – Thursday 09 March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

Thursday 09 March 2023 – Weather Conditions

Given worsening weather conditions today with regret the decision has been taken to send children home from School – leaving site from approximately 09.30 after we have registered the attendance of those who have successfully made their way in.

Since the decision was taken earlier this morning to remain open, weather conditions have considerably deteriorated and site safety is a growing concern and transport is already problematic for many.

There will be communication later today with any update, including intended plans for Friday.

The School switchboard is 0121 796 5000 if you need to make contact with the School.

Kind regards

Colin Townsend

Principal
