Year 11 pupils have been celebrating their academic achievements after receiving their GCSE results this morning. The results today reflect the commitment displayed by our pupils over the past five years here at the University School. So many have shown great character over time – from curiosity in their learning, to resilience and determination throughout various challenges, to thoughtfulness and kindness towards their peers. In so doing, so many have reached their personal best and have helped others to do so.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as pupils gathered to open their results with pride. For many, this moment marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
Principal, Mr Colin Townsend, expresses his heartfelt congratulations to pupils: “I hold admiration for each of our 153 pupils and those celebrating elsewhere, for their personal growth and character development, and for their academic awards achieved today. We aim always to support each young person to achieve individual excellence and a purposeful and aspirational onward pathway – be that to A level or further study, an apprenticeship, or work. Where as an all-ability School that means gaining top grades we look to that – with 24 pupils attaining at least five passes at grade 7 or higher, and 20% of all subject entries awarded at a standard of grade 7 or higher. I also thank our parents, carers, and families for their crucial partnership with the School and the School’s staff for their boundless care for our learners, alongside their subject expertise. Optimism, self-belief, determination, and a balanced work ethic are a powerful mix towards success – now and moving forward.”
